Art Omi’s Mission
Art Omi believes that exposure to internationally diverse creative voices fosters acceptance and respect, raises awareness, inspires innovation, and ignites change. By forming community with creative expression as its common denominator, Art Omi creates a sanctuary for the artistic community and the public to affirm the transformative quality of art. Art Omi is a not-for-profit arts center with a 120-acre sculpture and architecture park and gallery, residency programs for international architects, artists, dancers, musicians, translators, and writers, and a thriving arts education program serving our local community.
Art Omi’s Philosophy
Since its founding, Art Omi has been guided by the principle that artistic expression transcends economic, political, and cultural boundaries. To date, Art Omi has hosted more than 2,000 artists from over 100 countries. By inviting a unique and varied mix of artists, writers, musicians and dancers from all over the world to create a diverse, positive working community, Art Omi transforms this guiding vision into an exciting reality.
About the Sculpture and Architecture Park
Art Omi presents the works of contemporary artists and architects, and offers a range of large-scale works in nature across 120 acres of fields and forests, plus rotating exhibitions in the Newmark Gallery. The Sculpture & Architecture Park currently offers more than 60 works by artists and architects on view, with pieces added or exchanged each year. Art Omi welcomes the public to its events and grounds free of charge, and is open daily. Art Omi is situated two-and-a-half hours north of New York City in the bucolic Hudson Valley. Named for its location in the hamlet of Omi, part of the small town of Ghent, Art Omi is in close proximity to Chatham, Hudson, and Albany. Learn more about the Sculpture & Architecture Park here.
About the Art Omi Artist Residency Programs
Art Omi has five distinct residency programs: Art Omi: Architecture, Art Omi: Artists, Art Omi: Dance, Art Omi: Music, and Art Omi: Writers. Through a competitive jury process, residents are chosen, invited to attend at no cost to themselves, except travel.
